I was born in Edinburgh, the son of a Scottish mother and Czech father.
I studied at Heriot-Watt University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree which gave me the entry to the Brewery business. I have worked in the production environment throughout my whole career of 40 years, for the first 4 years with Scottish and Newcastle Breweries, and then with South African Breweries now known as SABMiller. I worked all over the world, in different cities in South Africa where I lived for 21 years, and where I experienced the important transformational period in the country’s evolution as apartheid ended. From there I moved to China with the company, after which I returned to East Europe, working in Hungary for 4 years and moving to Romania where I lived for the last 6 years. When I retired in 2018, I was the Regional Technical Vice President for Romania and Hungary at SABMiller.
For my whole life I have believed that the success of organizations is solely due to the efforts of talented individuals and that using a coaching style of management that helps people to unlock their potential within. I completed my advanced transformational coach training with Performance Consultants International (PCI) and I am actively coaching people in the business.
